Line of Events
Married, underage crooks Lou-Jean (Goldie Hawn) and Clovis Poplin (William Atherton) lose their baby in Texas and vow to do whatever it takes to get him back. Lou-Jean breaks Clovis out of prison, and the two steal their son from his foster family and take a highway patrolman hostage. When a giant dragnet begins to pursue them across Texas, the couple become unlikely folk heroes and even begin to bond with a captured police officer.
