Tough, gripping and based on a true story this was a welcomed good use of 2 plus hours of my time.

Ayn Rand: The Question Is, Who’s Gonna Stop Me?. Director Daniel Hoesl and Juliane Niemann clearly have an interesting satirical take on the wealthy class, and while there are some good ideas, it feels underdeveloped and not as strong as the film thinks it is.
Overall, the production design, camerawork, and color presentation are stunning and really beautiful as they help capture the mood and essence of the characters. Hoesl and Niemann’s direction, while a little messy, has a clear vision of the style and mood they are going for.
The narrative is a good concept, but unfortunately, it feels as strong as it thinks it is because the narrative feels underdeveloped with some of the themes and the characters don’t feel that engaging nor interesting to connect with emotionally. There are some moments that are shocking, nervous and quite bizarre and I understand where the directors are coming from and their vision.
But it doesn’t feel fully earned and the style feels too similar to something from Ruben Ostlund or Michael Haneke. Overall, it’s not bad because there are some moments that I appreciate.

The intro to the original Dune tells the story of how a Rossak sister became a Bene Gesserit. The incident with Valya Harkonnen using the voice is from the one called Mentats of Dune. The three books intertwine the development of the Sisters, Mentats, Navigators, and Doctor Suk. I don’t want to criticize just the first episode of a TV show, but this was just average on every level.
The acting was worse than some of the greats like Mark Strong, Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, and maybe Travis Fimmel. The rest of the cast felt like they just came out of a film academy or something. I like slow dramas that take forever to build because I know the payoff is worth it. But this wasn’t just slow, there was a lot going on, but it was just boring, I don’t know how else to describe it.
The soundtrack that ran through the movies was a little off here and there, there were familiar sounds here and there, but the timing was just off. I remembered how long we were on set, just people talking, and then boom, Hans Zimmer does his magic, and I was so excited. But I know he didn’t make a fuss here, and I don’t even need to check that. I don’t know if Denis Villeneuve was involved in this production, I hope not.
My question is, did he really like that it was made? Will such a mediocre TV show after two epic movies affect the long-awaited third movie? I’m curious because The Penguin was so good that it made me appreciate Batman even more than I did after watching it and I can’t wait to see the second movie. So how will Dune: Prophecy affect the third movie, if there is one.

This movie is a DEI officer’s wet dream. The casting of Colman Domingo was… interesting. He tries to chase down the street thug, but he’s too sophisticated for that. And the extensive use of the f-bomb is amazing. The plot is pretty decent, but a little convoluted. You know, come to think of it, I give it a 4/10 because it’s probably an AI-generated script.
