Claire Beauchamp Randall, a World War II nurse, mysteriously travels back in time to Scotland in 1743. There she meets a dashing Highland warrior and is drawn into an epic rebellion.. Moore (programmer of the TV series), his crew decided to keep the Gaelic words instead of translating them into English. This kept the narrative in the first person by showing Claire’s inability to understand Gaelic.
The idea was suggested by producer David Brown, who said he saw something similar in Skin Deep (1998), a foreign alternative film starring actor and singer Gustavo Goulart. ; An American term that came into use only in the 19th century. The theme song changes from season to season to reflect what is happening in the story. In the first half of the second season (which is set in France), some of the lyrics are in French.
In the second half of Season 2 (which is mostly about preparations for war), a militaristic drum roll was added to the opening theme. During Season 3, tribal drums were added as most of the season takes place in the West Indies. In Season 4, violins and banjo, and some lyrics are sung with a Southern accent as the season is mostly set in America. I’m Late on Outlander and binge-watched it. A beloved friend who recently died of cancer, too young, told me to watch it, so I did in her honor. So smooth! The cast is perfect with stellar performances of gritty stories.
The locations, the romance, the STUNNING unforgettable music, the set design, the costumes and props, and the attention to historical detail all left a strong impression on me.

After the events of Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka the Penguin, takes over the reins of Gotham’s criminal underworld. Aside from a Bat-signal in the final scene of the season finale, we never got a glimpse of Robert Pattinson in The Penguin. Colin Farrell fought hard to create his own smoking version of The Penguin in Batman (2022), but he failed.
However, in his own series, the character is depicted as an occasional tobacco user who prefers cigars. An umbrella falls and the logo changes to the Warner Bros. logo.
The first episode is a direct sequel to Matt Reeves’ Batman and I imagine those who haven’t seen the last one will be a bit lost. But I watched The Batman a while ago, and this series did a great job of bringing me back to where the movie left off, without getting bogged down in a didactic recap. It also does a pretty good job of reviving the film’s dark aesthetic and tone, though there are far more moments of slyness in the series than in the film.
As in The Batman, Colin Farrell does a great job portraying The Penguin as the stereotypical mob “street kid”: rough, dirty, shallow, and quick to commit violence; but also cunning, cunning, and able to read people. The character may have nothing at all to do with the comic book version, but he’s interesting in his own right. I have my doubts that the series will give The Penguin a teenage sidekick; and I don’t know if The Penguin’s machinations will be enough to sustain him for a full season.
